Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: London, UK – Office at 88 Leadenhall Street
Working hours: 9am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Reports to: Finance Business Partner
Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team.
The successful candidate will be ambitious, sociable and a dynamic self-starter who can bring fresh ideas to the growth of our Finance division and integrate with all departments across the business. This role reports directly into the Finance Business Partner. The purpose of this role is to provide support and governance to all departments. This dynamic position would suit a highly organised hands on and self-motivated candidate who can work well in a small team environment and is flexible to different approaches.
Key duties and responsibilities
The main duties of the Senior Accountant include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Monitor cash flow, forecast trends, and conduct variance analysis
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and KPI reporting
- Assist with payroll tasks and manage staff pension contributions
- Review supplier payments, approve client invoices, and submit VAT returns
- Support annual audits, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Collaborate with Finance, Managing Partner, and Department Heads
- Create and maintain reports to support business objectives
- Manage and support a team of 2 members
- Handle ad-hoc reporting as needed
Skills and attributes
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in professional services (preferred but not essential)
- Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory reporting requirements
- Experience in team management and commercial decision-making, with the ability to assess financial impacts
- Proficient in double-entry bookkeeping, payroll, and pension regulations
- Proactive in managing priorities, with initiative to identify issues and propose innovative solutions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Advanced Excel skills (vLookup, pivot tables) and experience building financial models
- Familiar with online data/payment systems and able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to meet targets, deadlines, and maintain a professional, flexible approach
- Trusted with sensitive data, demonstrating attention to detail and understanding of confidentiality
